Creating tertiary colours

Tertiary (sometimes known as intermediate) colours were made today by the children. They mixed primary and secondary colours together in order to create them. We have discovered the technical words for them, which are as follows:

  • yellow-orange (marigold or amber)
  • red-orange (vermilion or cinnabar)
  • red-violet (magenta – a light mauvish-crimson)
  • blue-violet (indigo)
  • blue-green (teal or aqua)
  • yellow-green (chartreuse or lime green)
